Summer
In the summer there are many opportunities for entertainment for young and old. The hikers can walk different routes right next to the house, varying from the dorf-panorama route past the beautiful church that takes about 45 minutes to a brisk walk of more than 2 hours to Burglalm, which is 1700 meters away. With the wanderbus it is also possible to go to the Dientersattel and to walk to the Schneebergkreuz or to the Matrashaus on top of the Hochkonig.
It is of course also possible to go up with gondolas and chair lifts and then make a shorter route to the Schneebergkreuz or a descent to the village. The Karbach lift in Muhlbach takes you and the children to Toni's Spielalm where you can enjoy beautiful views and your children can experience hours of fun.
In addition to walking, the two-wheeler is also a good opportunity to actively waste your time. Both with (e) Mountain bike and regular (racing) bike there are enough possibilities to make beautiful trips.
Other recommendations (for family entertainment) are the Geisterberg in Alpendorf (25 minutes' drive) and the Kitzlochklamm in Taxenbach (15 minutes). Also very beautiful is the Hochalm in Rauris (25 minutes) where a bird of prey show and gold digging provide a lot of fun.
These activities can be done free of charge with the Salzburgerland card. You can buy this card at the local tourist office in the ski center and also give you access to the (outdoor) swimming pool in Saalfelden or Maria Alm, for example. Other recommendations with this card are Schloss Hohewerfen and a day trip to Salzburg (about 1 hour by car) or visit the Grossglockner. The Hochkonig card can also be purchased at the local tourist office and gives other benefits in the Hochkonig region than the Salzburgerland card which covers the entire Salzburgerland.
A visit to the Weisssee is also a special experience (60 minutes' drive) as well as a visit to the caves (Höhle) and Klamms bei Weissbach (about 35 minutes), Gastein (20 minutes) or Taxenbach (15 minutes).
Eisriesenwelt is also an experience that you will not soon forget (about 35 minutes), but this is outside the Salzburgerland map.
